October Beatitude:

Blessed are...

they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Often when we hear this second beatitude we understand it to refer to those who are mourning someone who has died, and certainly can apply to the mourning that comes with death and loss.  However, this beatitude also blesses those who are saddened by sin.  When they see or hear about sin, they are sorry because god is not honored by sin and because people move further from God.  They are sad now, but they will be comforted?

*What comforts you when you are sad?
